Driveway Cleaning Services

Professional driveway and patio cleaning is designed to restore exterior surfaces that have become dirty, stained, or affected by algae, moss, and general weathering over time. The most common surfaces treated include block paving driveways, concrete driveways, and Indian sandstone patios.

Over time, each surface type reacts differently to dirt and organic growth. Block paving tends to collect debris and weeds between joints, concrete can hold oil stains and surface discolouration, and Indian sandstone is more prone to algae build-up and weathering due to its natural porous structure.

Because of these differences, every property requires a slightly different cleaning approach rather than a one-method-fits-all process.

How professional driveway cleaning is carried out

Every driveway cleaning job starts with a full inspection of the surface. This is important as it determines the correct cleaning approach based on the material, condition, and level of contamination.

In most cases, the first stage is a mechanical clean using pressure washing to remove the loose top layer of dirt, debris, and surface build-up. This allows the surface underneath to be properly exposed so any deeper staining or organic growth can be treated more effectively.

Once the surface has been initially cleaned, targeted chemical treatments are then applied where required. This is particularly effective for stubborn algae, moss, black spot, and oil staining, as applying treatments after the initial clean allows them to penetrate the surface more directly and work more effectively.

After treatment, the surface may be cleaned again to fully remove any remaining residue and restore an even finish.

Surface-specific approach

  • Block paving driveways are typically pressure washed first to remove surface dirt, followed by targeted treatment if required. Once cleaned, the joints are re-sanded to stabilise the surface and improve long-term durability.

  • Concrete driveways are cleaned using pressure washing first, with chemical treatment applied afterwards for deeper stains such as oil or long-standing discolouration.
  • Indian sandstone is treated more carefully due to its porous nature. The surface is initially cleaned, followed by controlled chemical treatment to break down algae and organic growth without damaging the stone.
